Seema Sonkar
My name is Seema. My late husband was a taxi driver with whom I had three children. When he passed away I had a difficult time and started looking for a job. Initially, I started cooking food in people’s houses and later started making sweet boxes which I would sell to earn a living for myself. With the support of my in-laws, I decided to learn sewing and start my own business. Some neighborhood people introduced me to Margdarshak and I borrowed an initial loan for starting my own tailoring business which I repaid and took a second loan of Rs. 12,000 to expand my business. As my financial status started improving with the active support from Margdarshak, I was able to shift my children from a Hindi medium to an English medium school. Continued financial supports from Margdarshak enabled me to scale-up my business and helped me in becoming self-sufficient and stand on my own feet. I am presently making payments towards the current loan of Rs 18,000. I am very grateful to Margdarshak, thanks to whom I have been able to develop my business a lot and can support my children and myself.
